Why an Enrolled Agent
Makes the Difference

Issued by the IRS itself. The Enrolled Agent (EA) credential is issued by the Internal Revenue Service, a division of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Only three types of professionals are authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS at all levels: attorneys, CPAs, and Enrolled Agents. As a licensed Enrolled Agent, we have unlimited representation rights — meaning we can handle any tax matter, any IRS office, any level of dispute.

When we take on your case, we become your authorized representative. The IRS communicates with us — not you. You don't have to make a single call or write a single letter to the IRS. We handle it all.

What “Unlimited Representation” Means

  • Represent at any IRS office or division
  • Appear in examinations, appeals, and collections
  • Sign agreements and consents on your behalf
  • Negotiate directly with Revenue Officers and Agents
  • Receive and respond to all IRS correspondence

Professional Tax Controversy
Support

The IRS expects professional and technical responses. We act as your authorized representative — handling everything from first notice to final resolution.

IRS Audit Representation

We represent you at every stage of an IRS examination — correspondence, office, and field audits. You don't attend, you don't speak to the IRS, and you don't stress.

  • Correspondence audit defense
  • Office and field audit representation
  • Document preparation and submission
  • Negotiation of proposed adjustments
  • Appeals representation if needed

Penalty Abatement

Many IRS penalties can be reduced or eliminated with a properly prepared abatement request. First-time penalty abatement alone can remove thousands of dollars in penalties.

  • First-time penalty abatement
  • Reasonable cause abatement
  • Failure-to-file penalty removal
  • Failure-to-pay penalty reduction
  • Accuracy-related penalty abatement

Offer in Compromise

An OIC allows qualifying taxpayers to settle their entire tax debt for less than the full amount owed. We evaluate your eligibility and prepare the complete application.

  • OIC eligibility analysis
  • Doubt as to collectibility
  • Doubt as to liability
  • Effective tax administration
  • Full application preparation

Installment Agreements

When full payment isn't possible, an installment agreement lets you pay your tax debt in monthly installments — stopping enforced collection while you pay.

  • Streamlined installment agreements
  • Partial pay installment agreements
  • Currently Not Collectible (CNC) status
  • Collection hold while processing
  • IRS online account setup

IRS Notice Response

We review any IRS notice, explain exactly what it means, and prepare a professional response before the deadline — protecting your rights and your options.

  • Notice review and explanation
  • CP2000 — underreported income
  • Examination reports (Letter 525)
  • Collections notices (CP504, LT11)
  • All other IRS correspondence

Innocent Spouse Relief

If your tax liability resulted from errors made by a current or former spouse, innocent spouse relief may remove your responsibility for that portion of the debt.

  • Innocent spouse relief (Form 8857)
  • Separation of liability relief
  • Equitable relief
  • IRS appeals if initially denied
  • Joint and several liability analysis

I got an IRS audit notice and completely panicked. WELFO handled every single communication — I never had to speak to the IRS once. The audit closed with zero changes to my return. I cannot recommend them enough.

Offer in Compromise:
Settle for Less

An OIC allows qualifying taxpayers to resolve their entire tax debt for less than the full amount owed. The IRS accepted over 13,000 OICs in 2023, with an average accepted offer of about 20 cents on the dollar.

1

Assess Eligibility

Not everyone qualifies. We evaluate your income, assets, expenses, and future earning capacity to determine whether an OIC is a viable option.

2

Calculate the Offer

The IRS uses a specific formula based on your Reasonable Collection Potential (RCP). We calculate the minimum acceptable offer for your situation.

3

Prepare the Application

Form 656 and Form 433-A (OIC) with complete financial documentation — prepared accurately to maximize approval probability.

4

Negotiate to Acceptance

We respond to IRS requests during review, negotiate with the assigned examiner, and advocate for the lowest acceptable resolution.

IRS Problem Questions,
Answered Honestly

I received an IRS notice. What should I do right now?
Don't panic — but do act quickly. Every IRS notice has a deadline, typically 30 to 60 days. Contact us immediately and send us a copy of the letter. We'll review it, explain exactly what it means and what's at stake, and take over all communication with the IRS from that point. Most notices are resolved without you ever having to speak to the IRS at all.
Can you really get IRS penalties reduced or removed?
Yes — in many cases. The IRS has formal penalty abatement programs, including First-Time Penalty Abatement (available if you have a clean compliance history) and Reasonable Cause Abatement. These can remove failure-to-file and failure-to-pay penalties that can represent 25% or more of the tax owed. We assess your eligibility and prepare a compelling case.
Do I qualify for an Offer in Compromise?
An OIC is available when the full amount owed exceeds what the IRS can reasonably expect to collect from you. Eligibility depends on your income, expenses, asset equity, and future earning potential. Not everyone qualifies, and submitting a non-qualifying offer can hurt your position. We evaluate your situation honestly before recommending this path.
The IRS levied my bank account. Can you stop it?
A bank levy freezes funds in your account for 21 days before the IRS seizes them. During that window, we can potentially negotiate a levy release by establishing a payment arrangement, demonstrating financial hardship, or identifying a procedural error. Act immediately — the 21-day window is critical. For wage garnishments, we can often stop them more quickly through proper IRS procedures.
I haven't filed in years. Will the IRS come after me?
The IRS can file a Substitute for Return (SFR) on your behalf — typically with no deductions, maximum tax owed. Voluntary disclosure is almost always better. Coming forward before the IRS contacts you gives you more options and generally better outcomes. We file all unfiled returns, apply for penalty abatement, and establish a resolution plan. The sooner the better.
How much does IRS representation cost?
Fees vary based on the complexity of your case. A notice response starts at $250. Audit representation starts at $750 (typically 5 or more hours of work). OIC preparation starts at $1,200. We always quote a flat fee upfront before beginning any work — no hourly billing, no surprises. For most clients, our fee is a fraction of the penalties, interest, or tax debt we help reduce or resolve.
